Terms of Reference

• Identify issues of concern to the community regarding drug and alcohol issues in Western Australia and make recommendations to the Minister for Health and the Drug and Alcohol Office.

• Advise on and assist effective consultation processes to enable input into major initiatives for drug and alcohol issues by facilitating effective linkages between the Drug and Alcohol Office and the community.

• Provide independent advice on Government performance against the WA Drug and Alcohol Strategy on behalf of the community, giving particular consideration to the effectiveness of the Strategy, as a whole of Government approach to drug and alcohol issues.

• Consider drug and alcohol policies, programs, services and activities that impact on the community, including their development and implementation, and advise DAO on their appropriateness and effectiveness.

• Advise on the effectiveness and availability of information that informs the community about drug and alcohol issues.

• Identify key stakeholders in the community who are able to provide advice, information and assistance about drug and alcohol issues, recognising the diversity of consumers and the community affected by drug and alcohol use.
